How do I fix Google has stopped working on my Android

If you’ve been running into an error message that says “Google keeps stopping,” you’re not alone as numerous reports have popped up saying the Google app on Android is suffering from instability. And while it seems Google is aware of the issue, there are some things you can do to address the problem in the meantime.

One of the biggest issues with the Google app right now is that crashes are happening on a wide range of devices and Android versions, with
Android Authority claiming to have encountered the crash on an LG Wing running Android 10 and a Huawei Mate 20, while others showed screenshots of the Google app crashing on a Pixel 4a running Android 11.

The cause of the crash seems to stem from a recent update pushed out to the Google app, with the bug affecting multiple versions of the app, which can vary depending on the specific device you’re using. And to make matters worse, the issue with the Google app can also cause crashes in other Google apps such as
Google Lens, Google Podcasts, and the Google Assistant app, as they all feature integration with the Google app.

Users have already reached out to
Google alerting the company of the problem, with Google customer support on Twitter telling one user that one way to address the issue is to perform a soft reboot by holding the power button down for 30 seconds (essentially turning the phone off then on again).

However, if that approach doesn’t work, other people have found success by uninstalling the most recent update to the
Google app and reverting back to the previous version. Alternatively, you can also try clearing your cache.

The one bit of good news is that the recent bug with the Google app seems unrelated to an issue that popped up earlier this year where
Webview in Android was causing some apps to crash.

And if you haven’t updated your Google app recently, you might want to hold off for now until Google can push out a fix for the crashing.

Step: Try to fix the Google app

1.
Restart the Google app. Open Settings.

2.
Restart your device. Restart your device and try your search again.

3.
Update the Google app. If you're able to connect to the Internet, update the Google app to the latest version.

4.
Clear your Google app cache.

5.
Clear your Google app data.

If it does not work then you clear all data from your phone and restart again.

How to fix the Gmail Temporary error

 1. Update your browser

Since
Gmail is a web client, it is always available to you with the latest version, unlike desktop clients that update manually. Because of this, you must also keep your browser constantly update it for it to work properly. As such, check your browser’s version and, if required, update your browser to the latest version.

2. Clear your browser of any data

Cookies and cached data have a nasty habit of interfering with web services if you let them pile up. Because of this, it is recommended that you periodically clear your browser cache and cookies and then test after signing-in.

3. Disable extensions and add-ons

Since most add-ons and extensions are created by third parties that have no connection to Gmail, there is no way of telling how they may interfere with it functioning properly. Thus, try disabling all browser extensions, scripts, and add-ons and start the browser again.

4. Disable your antivirus and Firewall

Since antivirus and firewall tools act by limiting the amount of data that comes and goes to and from your PC, it shouldn’t surprise you if it hinders Gmail’s functionality.

Temporarily disable your virus checker along with any of its add-ons or extensions that interfere with your access to the web or attempt to check your email. Be sure to turn it back on immediately afterward.

5. Use Incognito or Guest mode

One very bizarre workaround is the use of Incognito and Guest mode. This is because these modes are activated without any scripts, extensions, and add-ons by default. As such, try logging into Gmail through such a session.

6. Use another browser

If you cannot figure out why you can’t connect to Gmail, then maybe the problem is the browser itself. Test using another supported, updated browser like Firefox, Edge or Safari.

7. Wait it out

This error usually goes away quickly, so try signing in again in a few minutes. Even though you can’t sign in for the moment, your messages and personal information are still safe.

If the problem still isn’t fixed, check the
G Suite Status Dashboard to check if there’s a known issue happening on Gmail.
